Internship

Our ‘Internship programme’ allows people who are studying for full-time ministry the opportunity of being an Intern in the life of the church for the duration of their studies. This will afford them all the opportunities a church like Meadowridge has to offer, training from our full time pastoral staff and a safe environment in which to grow and gain experience.

Meet our Interns...

I am so excited that God has led me back to work at MBC this year! It is my heart to work with young people and know that God has called me into full-time ministry in as Worship Pastor and Youth worker in the future. So it is such a privilege to be serving in those same areas at MBC. The year has been a busy one so far, but has begun to settle down a bit. As part of my youth responsibilities I am leading  with the team for UNION on a Friday night, I am taking the Grade 11 Life Group with two of the other young adults and am loving being able to journey with these 15 youth! I am also heading up the youth worship team and all that entails. For the worship ministry I am     responsible for the maintenance of the equipment, incorporating media and the arts into our services and attend practices to help the leaders and on some weeks bring musical direction. I have also finished my Certificate in Worship Studies and this year have begun my 2nd year of my Bachelor of Theology. I can not wait to see where God leads me this year and for the challenges and opportunities He brings my way!

This year I have continued working with the grade 6’s and 7’s of MBC, following on from last year. This ministry has been very exciting and a new challenge to me as this is only my second year in Children’s ministry. On a Thursday I lead a lifegroup for the grade 6’s and 7’s where they get the opportunity to learn more about God’s Word and what it means to live out their faith. Every Friday I am also part of a young adult team that leads a program called “Impact” where we play games and talk about Jesus and build relationships with the kids. Finally, on a Sunday I lead grade 6 and 7 Sunday School with a team of 4 other young adults from MBC. I am looking forward to what God has in store for the rest of this year, specifically with the junior high division of MBC’s Children’s ministry

It is so exciting that this year has begun – Shell’s and I have been speaking about this year happening since I arrived home from my year with 3D-Outreach; which was the end of 2008. I am still finding my feet, the year has only just started but so far I am really enjoying the Internship experience. One of my main projects that I am working on is relaunching the     UNION MBC youth Magazine. I am finding it quite challenging but exciting to see how everything is coming together. It’s, God-willing, going to be launched at the end of this 1st term.

“Be your authentic self. Your authentic self is who you are when you have no fear of judgment, or before the world starts pushing you around and telling you who you're supposed to be. Your fictional self is who you are when you have a social mask on to please everyone else. Give yourself permission to be your authentic self.”[Dr Phil]

I want to come to a place of being Authentic; and this is what we desire for UNION youth as we set forth into our theme of ”REAL” for the year ahead.
